16:30 Talk On Gin & Sampling Opportunity

Presented by Stewart Patience, Stirling Gin

Like many a great idea it comes to you whilst having a drink or two of an evening. Stirling gin started at home Spring 2015 in the kitchen being created in our little cooper pot still ‘Jinty’. She worked hard for us over 6 months or so whilst we tried botanical after botanical, mixing combination with combination until we finally agreed on our recipe being produced today. On numerous walks with our dog, the nettles were our enemy until Stirling Gin came to the fore and thought what better a super food to use than the lovely nettle, so it was rubber gloves at the ready and off a foraging we went. Many a good friend and gin lovers helped in our tasting panel until we decided Stirling Gin was ready to get set loose in the ever growing world of gins. The gin runs now take place in Annie, a 450-litre copper still. The Nettle and Basil are placed in the gin basket at the top of the still, whilst juniper, angelica, orange and lemon are placed directly into the pot. There is no maceration period, so the still is started up straight away and each run produces 370 bottles of Stirling Gin cut to 43% ABV.

Talk on Benromach Single Malt Whisky & Sampling Opportunity

Presented by Jim Irvine, Gordon & MacPhail

Flavour has always been in our family at Gordon & MacPhail.

Since 1895 Gordon & MacPhail has carefully matched spirit to oak cask.

From early days, Gordon & MacPhail has worked with distilleries throughout Scotland sending specially selected casks to be filled with new-make spirit. The casks are either matured at distilleries of origin or returned to the bonded warehouses in Elgin.

Gordon & MacPhail, the fourth generation Urquhart family-owned business, is the custodian of some of the world’s oldest and rarest single malt Scotch whiskies. It was foresight and long term vision of previous generations that has allowed Gordon & MacPhail to offer whisky lovers the opportunity to taste and experience an exclusive piece of Scotland’s liquid history.

Over 18s. Room capacity limited to 50 attendees. First come first served
